eCraft Video–eCraftshop Pro-Working with Long Mat Sizes

 

Hello everybody!  Have I mentioned that this time of year is a very busy crafting time for me?  Well it is.  Not only do I have my Halloween crafts, but my son’s birthday is shortly after Halloween.  That means that right now I am busy making invitations and party favors, all that fun stuff!  For this month’s eCraftshop Pro video, I decided to show you how to work with longer mat sizes in the software.  One of the great things about the eCraft is that even though it has a Roll mode, you can still cut longer pieces using Front mode or Tray mode.  Since the vinyl that I am using in this video comes on a roll that does not fit on the eCraft roll end caps, I decided to cut my vinyl and feed it through the front.  Works like a charm!

I used a glossy outdoor vinyl in black for the base layer of Darth Vader (which you will see me cut out in the video) and then if you look closely you will see that there are some accent pieces layered on top that were cut in a matte finish vinyl in black.  Very cool effect!  Works especially well for Darth Vader since his helmet is shiny!  The SVG that I used came from Katydid Creativity and Paper Adventures.  I did modify the file from a shaped card to one that would work for my purposes.  Also the background paper I got on Etsy from CocoaMint.

Holy Cow it's been awhile!

I cannot believe how long it has been since I posted something!  Well, since Father's Day is right around the corner, I thought I would share with you the Father's Day cards that I have made.  First up is one for my Father-in-Law.

My FIL is a lover of trains as is my youngest son, so I tend to make a few things with trains.  This one just needed to be cut in all black (with the exception of the smoke) and I decided to try to do this as an all neutral card.  I mounted the train onto some vintage bookprint and I used some stamps from the My Hero My Father stamp set from Papertrey Ink.  That includes the sentiment and the wonderful corrugated stamp.  Both were stamped in Versamark, and then I heat embossed the sentiment with clear embossing powder.  Love how this card turned out!  I just may have to do more all neutral cards!

I will admit that this card which is for my Dad is not my favorite.  I just may make another card to replace this one, but I may not have the time between now and Father's Day.  My Dad is a lover of two things, golf and bicycling.  So I found this #1 Dad graphic with the golf ball from Lettering Delights and just knew I had to use it.  I also had this Tim Holtz bicycle stamp in my stash that was crying out to be used, and I am just not sure that I merged the two well enough together.

When it came to making a card for my husband, I was at a loss.  Then as I was scrolling through the Lettering Delights website I came across THIS file.  While I was looking at this, I realized that I had all the elements to make a pretty good replica of this card, so I set to work.  This also is just perfect, because for Father's Day the kids and I got him a Sodastream.  Not sure if we are actually going to like this, but my hubby loves gadgets so it is one of those things that I knew he would like to get and play around with.

A Manly (?) Birthday Card

My BIL recently had a birthday so of course I had to make him a card. I broke out my stamp sets from Papertrey Ink from their April release.  I used Ad Sense, Grunge Me, and Chevron Stripes.  I used a color combination of Vintage Cream, Dark Chocolate, Terracotta Tile and Ripe Avocado.

I again used some balsa wood for the Ad Sense image and stamped directly on the wood, looks so amazing!  This is one of those cases where the picture does not do it justice.

Since my BIL is a kid at heart, I knew that he would love this sentiment which I printed on my cardstock and then just stamped around it with Grunge Me.

A Slew of Birthdays...

I hope you all are ready to see some birthday cards!  We have a bunch of birthdays we are celebrating in April.  For starters, on my husband's mom's side of the family there are four (yes FOUR) people celebrating their 85th birthday this year.  The family decided to have one party to celebrate all of them!  This card is for the only man in the group.

I used PTI Aqua Mist, Spring Rain, Enchnted Evening and Kraft for this card.  The patterned paper is from PTI Postmarks patterned paper set.  The long half circle piece sticking out of the border is a shape that I created in Make the Cut using the basic shapes and cut out on my eCraft.  I also used the Woodgrain Impression Plate, Postmarks stamp set and All & Around Sentiments all from Papertrey Ink.

A Masculine Card...and a Very Versatile Stamp Set

It was a crazy weekend around here, and I just barely had enough time to get into my craft room to make this card for my FIL's birthday.  I always struggle with cards for men, but the idea for this card hit me like a lightning bolt when I saw this train image at Clearly Vintage.

My FIL is a train nut!  He has a couple of the trains that you ride on, similar to the one that was in that old TV sitcom, Silver Spoons.  One of the trains is at his house.  He made tracks and has them in his yard for this train.  So when I saw this vintage train image, I just knew that it would go great with Papertrey Ink's Just the Ticket stamp set.  This is a great stamp set, because it can be used for just about any occasion, and it also very gender neutral.  I used the Color Couture Volume 6 color scheme from PTI as well.  These colors are Summer Sunrise (card base, and ink on the hand pointing), Pure Poppy (cardstock layer under train image and star stamps on ticket strip), Hawaiian Shores (ticket outline stamp), Dark Chocolate (sentiments stamps), and Aqua Mist (ticket strip).  I also used the Dark Chocolate and Pure Poppy baker's twine.  I used the train image as a Digital paper and it worked great, once this was printed and the ticket strip cut out, this card came together so fast!
