Viewing Your SVG Files

Recently there has been some discussion over at the eCraft_Crafters Yahoo Group about using a program to view your SVG files.  I am going to share with you the program that I use.  To specify, I am using Windows 7 64 bit Dell laptop.  The program that I use is called Irfan View and it is a free program.  I don't know if it works on all operating systems, but usually if it works on Windows 7, it will work on any Windows system.

Once you have installed the program, you will get this icon on your desktop. EDIT: You need to install the program AND the plug ins.

Double-click on that icon, and it will open up to look similar to Windows Explorer.  From there you go to the folder where you store your SVG files, and this is what you should see.

Hope that this helps you out!

Thank you! I would like to make contact sheets of all my SVG files for my daughter-in-law and a friend who hate computers. I cut things for them when we crop together and it would be much easier. I see you can make them through Infran View Thumbnails, but to remove the writing from the contact sheet you have to buy CAD Image, which is expensive. Is there anyway around this? Thank you!

To be honest with you, I am not sure as I have never tried it. I'll keep my eyes open for a way to do this and if I spot something I will post it.

Thank You SO much for sharing how to use this- since losing Renesis after going with Win7, I have so missed seeing my SVG files, so this is a blessing to me! *Hugs*

Thanks for this information! I am a silhouette cameo user, and recently upgraded to designer edition software which enables me to use svg files. Importing all the svg files into silhouette studio's library is a HUGE pain. I can just keep them all in folders now, and view before I open. I am using windows vista and it worked great. :)
